The Glencoe Marathon
THE GLENCOE MARATHON
Seeking Mountain Sport is excited to have an entry in the Glencoe Marathon.
Held on the 7th October 2012, the race will see competitors run 26 miles and ascend a total of 1608 meters on trails through the heart of Glencoe and into the foothills of Ben Nevis.
The off-road route snakes through the pass of Glencoe, surrounded by the towering remains of this ancient super volcano, before climbing 500 meters up the fearsome Devil’s Staircase. From the eastern edge of the Aonach Eagach Ridge you look straight onto the mighty Buachaille Etive Mor (the great herdsman) before dropping back to sea level at Kinlochleven. Climbing up through the Mamores the route undulates until the descent into Glen Nevis and the base of the mighty Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest peak.
Cost per person is £45.00. The event is proving to be very popular and the original 100 places have been filled, luckily the organisers have opened up more places so what are you waiting for?
The GlenCoe Marathon is being run by WildFox Events, the Highlands original adventure challenge company.
